Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) refers to non-medical technology that allows people to overcome limitations and perform everyday activities such as speaking, eating, and moving.

The difference between Assistive Technology and just “Technology” is hard to explain since Technology is “assistive” by its very nature.  For our purposes, AT refers to technology that the vast majority of individuals would not need to perform everyday tasks.

“In a perfect world, AT would not exist, and we would all simply use technology as needed to overcome our own limitations”
